Fencing is one of the noblest sports practiced since time immemorial, with a variety of incarnations. Adults and kids seven years old and up can learn fencing basics with four sessions at Ezkrima. They will also get a 10% discount on fencing equipment which they will use on all the sessions. During the sessions, participants will learn basic moves like:
o On Guard – the basic position in fencing and the stance used in preparing to fence
o Advance – a step forward while remaining in the On Guard position; must be done with balance
o Retreat – a step backward while remaining in the On Guard position; must be done with balance
o Extend – straightening of one’s fencing arm toward the an imaginary or real opponent
o Touche (pronounced as tush) – a hit made to the opponent; it must be within the valid target; valid target depends on the weapon you use
o Parry – a blocking action so that the opponent will not hit you
o Lunge – kicking the front foot and landing with the rear leg straight
o Salute – the respectful action toward your opponent as fencing is a gentleman’s sport
o Bout – the duel itself; a match

The head coach is Coach Vier, a SEA Games gold medallist, and all of the trainers are former national team athletes. They will facilitate during the sessions and use focused teaching techniques to ensure that the students learn how to do the moves safely. These lessons are designed to provide training for hobby fencing, but they can also provide lessons for competitive fencing.

There is really no age limit for participants. As long as they are healthy and interested to learn, they are welcome. Those who want to join but have pre-existing medical conditions can join as long as they have the clearance of their respective doctors.

Voucher is valid for four (4) sessions of Basic Fencing plus 10% discount on Fencing Equipment for Adults and Kids aged 7 and up at Ezkrima.
